This story takes place when my wife is opening up as a medium. It is still scary for both of us since we do not know very much yet about the spirit world.
It is evening.
We relax on the couch, watch some tv when we hear some knocking on pipes.
There are some heating pipes running through our living, carefully concealed behind some wooden panels.
Knocking on these pipes is impossible. But there It was again. We look at each other. If this is what it means to ‘open up’, do we want this?
“Who is there? Can you please stop knocking on the pipes, thank you,” I try.
It is quiet for a bit, we relax and…. There it is again. Clearly knocking on the heater pipes behind the panels.
“Can you please stop knocking?”
Silence.
The sound on the tv goes on again and we watch tv.
During the rest of the evening, it stays quiet. So, I thought, it is done. Whoever it was, he or she moved on.
It was late, dark outside because it is close to winter. Sun settles down early, and we tried to make it comfy in the house.
After the movie we sat on the couch, did a bit of reading before going to bed.
“Knock, knock.”
My wife jumps up from the couch.
“Go away!”
I stand up and grab my wife’s hands.
“It is not done in this way. You know this.”
We take a place in the middle of the living room and hold each other’s hands.
“Dear spirit, please stop knocking or make any other sounds. We will sleep soon. Please find your way and go with God.”
Silence again.
No sounds are made so we thought it was really over this time.
He or she got the message and moved on.
We are somewhat satisfied and go to sleep.
“Knock, knock.”
My wife almost jumps out of bed.
“There it is again but now in the bedroom! Do something!”
A few years ago, we were in Rome, Italy. We got a cross from the Vatican, from the nuns.
Cool, maybe that helps to bring over a message.
Thing is, never get angry. If a spirit gets angry, you will never know what will happen. You cannot see it coming.
As calm as I can be, I put the necklace with the cross around my neck and with that, I ask the spirit again, to move on, to find it’s way and go with God.
Silence again. Of course.
Who is this?
Will he or she get the message and really move on?
Or is it ready to haunt us till we go crazy?
Spirits cannot talk to us directly. They will use anything to get attention. That is, if you are not a medium and not opened up spiritually in that way.
Maybe they want to let you:” I am here!.”
But, just knocking? Yes, a spirit is here. Now what?
We go to sleep again.
The next days it stays quiet.
The unrest is gone, the person has moved on.
So, it works! Just ask him or her to move on. Nice to know.
Later that week it starts to freeze in the night.
Autumn is giving up and lets winter start claiming the weather.
Due to the cold, I thought it was because of the freezing air that the doorbell in the middle of the night started to ring.
We did not pay very much attention to it.
Until the knocking on the pipes began again.
That spirit did not move on.
Now what?
We could ask it again, to move on but firmer this time.
This is not a playground of course.
Let us sleep, let us in peace.
What can you do when you try to reason with a spirit that clearly is not moving away or just comes back after a while. Or is it maybe someone else? Could we be haunted by more than one spirit?
Everything was possible at that time. We did not know anything yet about the spirit world compared to what we know now.
Asking, reasoning, even being firm.
The spirit was not leaving. Knocking on pipes, ringing the doorbell, playing with leaves outside on the street in the middle of the night. No wind and still leaves were sliding over the street.
Paper on the street, an old soda can rolling on the street. Everything was used to get our attention.
Or to annoy us. That was the big question.
It was creepy. It was scary. He or she was not giving up.
Luckily for us, we opened up more and more spiritually.
And a few days ago, one of our dearest friends here in our little family finally admitted it was her.
She tried and tried to get through and get our attention without the result she wanted and had fun of course. Creeping and scaring us.
If you ever deal with this and the spirit really is not going to move on, I honestly do not know what to do if you are not a medium. I guess consulting a medium is a possibility.
Just never get angry. At least try it. If a spirit gets angry… like I said before, you will never know when it comes, when it hits you and from what side.
They can manipulate a lot of items.
